I had another almost-lucid dream this morning.
I don't remember how the dream started out, but it migrated into a dream in a classroom/teaching situation. I think at one point I was a figure of authority, perhaps the teacher, but I'm not entirely sure of that. Shawn was there at the point of the classroom images.
At some point, Shawn and I ended up lying down on a bed in one of the classrooms. It was a raised bed that looked like it belonged in a hospital. I was struggling with Shawn for some reason. I think it started out with me saying I wanted to go, but he kept holding me down. There was also someone standing next to us, standing omniously over us to our left - the bed was up against a wall on the right.
Shawn's face started changing while everything became very chaotic. Visually, I was hallucinating his nose elongating and bulging out from his face while his face became beet red. It was very odd. I kept crying out to him "Shawn stop it, you're scaring me!" but nothing would change. His face kept going from normal to bulged-nose-red-face-Shawn all while he held me down tight. Finally I looked to our left to the person who I thought was there, but it was a giant refrigerator looming over us right next to the bed. I cried out to the person/fridge to help me when I realize I must be hallucinating. I couldn't understand if the fridge was a person I was hallucinating as a fridge or if it was simply a whole entire hallucination.
It was at this point that I realized I must be in a dream. I somehow managed to get an arm free and swung it out to the side, doing the palm-up trying to create fire thing. Ironically, this second time I didn't get any fire either but it still brought me to full consciousness within the dream. Instantly I said to myself "WHEEEE" as I grabbed onto Shawn (whose face had "paused" into simply a red colored baby-doll looking airbrushed manequin face) and pulled him up into the air, trying to jump-start my flight.
Unfortunately, as soon as I got into the air I paused too and though I tried and tried to keep floating upward, I was paused in my dream and I could feel (and see) the world around me fading out. I screamed outward "NO! I don't want to wake up!" and I'm glad Megan wasn't in the room at this point, because I could hear myself say it aloud.
Funny enough, I remember another dream after this, but I can't recall if it was a direct "false start" after I screamed that or if it was after I woke up and then went back to sleep.
I remember being up in a top bunk, but it was in a green room with wooden floors and young Psycho was walking up to the bunk and meowing. Then I realized again that I was in a dream and woke up outright.
:P
Edit: I should note that I realized later in the day the reason the dream "paused" was because I was trying to hard.
The way to control Lucid Dreams are by not trying very hard at all. You have to equally balance between weightlessly yet firmly controlling what's happenning. It's quite magical, because you have to believe in what you're telling the dream to do. Instead of trying to fly, trying to make things happen, you have to believe in it happenning and then just
let it happen.
Kind of like the Matrix. lol. "Everybody falls on their first jump" :P Hey, even Neo needed convicing before he "mastered" the Matrix.
